24-hour hotline are some of the services offered to thousands of
local residents each year.
They are a private, non-profit organization with offices in Bend,
Madras, Prineville, Redmond, and Sisters.
They partner with volunteers, medical professionals, law
enforcement, social service agencies, schools, and businesses in
order to provide services to survivors as well as trainings for vio-
lence prevention in our communities.

Self-Sufficiency Offices
The State Self-Sufficiency Office pro-
vides funding for basic needs, including
health care and special services. Staff
will assist families in finding other
resources if necessary. Those who
meet federal poverty guidelines may
be eligible for funds.

Senior and Disabled Services Office
The Senior and Disabled Services Office
is available to assist senior citizens and dis-
abled Crook County residents with medical
arrangements and food stamps. The office helps peo-
ple find the resources they need within the community and the
tri-county area.

The Prineville Senior Center
The Soroptimist-sponsored Senior Center is a “social center” and
meal site for Crook County seniors.
The center offers areas for playing pool and cards, quilting, craft
making, reading, and socializing.
Seniors at the center play pinochle, hold drawings for donated
gift certificates, participate in exercise classes, and have theme
parties.
The senior center is owned and operated by Soroptimist
International of Prineville, whose board of directors is the
Soroptimist Charitable Trust Board.
The Center is funded by the Neat Repeat Thrift store and
through donations.

Senior Meal Site:
The Soroptimist-sponsored noon meals at the
Senior Center are open to all seniors, regardless of income.
Soroptimists have been serving an average of 125 meals per day
at the meal site.
Nutritious, well-balanced, salt-free hot lunches are
served every weekday. Many seniors meet
Monday through Friday for the home-cooked,
nutritional-balanced lunches. Meal tickets
can be purchased individually or several at
a time. For people ages 60 and older, or
those with a spouse in that age group, a
$3.50 per meal donation is suggested,
not required. People under 60 are
asked to donate $5.25.
The Senior Center is closed
Memorial Day, Fourth of July,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New
Year’s Day.
Soroptimist Home-Delivered Meals:
The Soroptimists deliver an average of
55 hot meals per day to seniors or dis-
abled people who are unable to leave their
homes or would have difficulty preparing
their own meals. The food is cooked free of
salt, and special meals are available for diabet-
ics. There is a suggested donation of $3.50 per
meal. Volunteers are always needed to deliver meals.
