Lookout Mountain Grange No. 741
The Grange is a family-oriented community-service organization
founded in 1867 with roots in rural America. The grange is a fra-
ternal order that offers a wholesome family atmosphere and pro-
vides companionship, socializing, and legislative influence. It is
open to men, women, and children. It does not contribute to any
political party nor support candidates. Instead, it encourages each
member to be active in the faith of their choice. The grange fea-
tures gospel music on the third Saturday of each month. Changes
are being made at the grange, so call for exact times.

Ochoco Elk Hunter’s Chapter, Oregon Hunter’s Association
The Oregon Hunter’s Association, Ochoco Chapter, is a non-profit
organization whose purpose is to help wildlife and enhance habitat
where we live and hunt. Some examples are: plant various types of
brush and seedlings in meadows for big game, install guzzlers in
areas where water scarcity is a limiting factor, provide critical
funds for big horn sheep releases, and fund studies to help
improve antelope fawn survival. Once a year, the chapter has a
fund-raising banquet with the funds utilized in helping wildlife and
enhancing habitat.

Ochoco Garden Club
The Ochoco Garden Club selects a Garden of the Month during
the spring, summer, and fall. They award first-, second-, and third-
place certificates for Christmas floral business displays.
Additionally, the club has a contest for a summer floral business
displays. The meetings feature a varied program.

Humane Society of the Ochocos
The Humane Society of the Ochocos is a private, non-profit
organization that is strictly funded by donations. The primary func-
tion of the Humane Society is to take in stray or surrender cats,
dogs, rabbits, and other animals, and then have the public adopt
them. All animals taken into this shelter are from Crook County.

Oregon Nordic Club, Ochoco Chapter
The primary purpose of the Nordic Club is to promote cross-
country skiing. The club clears 30 miles of mountain trails in the
Ochocos from Bandit Springs to Walton Sno-Park. The group spon-
sors ski tours every couple of weeks during the winter.
