The Crook County Fairgrounds are located off of South Main
Street and Lynn Boulevard in Prineville. The grounds have served
as the home of the Crook County Fair since 1904.
The fair is held on the second full week of August from
Wednesday through Saturday evening. In 2013, the fair will be
held Aug. 7-10. The fair kicks off with the Greg Merritt
Scholarship Barbecue on Wednesday, and includes open class 4-H
and FFA livestock exhibits, as well as canning, arts and craft, and
fiber art exhibits.
The Crook County Fair Board is comprised of a chairman and
vice-chairman and five other members. Their job is to develop and
maintain policy and facilities, short-term and long-range plans, as
well as manage the financial stability of the fair. Board members
are appointed by the Crook County Court and can serve two con-
secutive three-year terms.
