R
iders and ropers flood to Molalla
every year to compete in the pro-
fessional rodeo events, so many
in fact that it’s impossible to cram all
the performances into the scheduled
shows.
This overflow of cowboys, known as
“slack,” will compete on July 6 at 8
a.m. at the Buckeroo grounds in bull
riding, saddle and bareback bronc rid-
ing, barrel racing, roping and steer
wrestling.
“All the same rules and standards
apply,” said Tim Anderson, president of
the Molalla Buckeroo Association. The
only difference is that the slack events
are free to watch.
