well the students learn.”
As the force behind an education-fund-
ing powerhouse, school district board
member Bob Barman said Patinkin has the
drive and energy to excel.
“The other thing I really like about Sara
is she’s got a young family, so she’s going
to grow in the community, and she’ll learn
a lot as her kids are moving through our
system,” Barman said.
She is in touch with the local community
as a member of the Lake Oswego Mothers
Club. She also is on the Willamette Valley
Development Officers board and is a mem-
ber of the Association of Fundraising Pro-
fessionals.
Her husband, Ben Patinkin, owns a
public opinion research firm, Patinkin Re-
search Strategies. They have two children,
Flynn, 4, and, Anna, 2.
Sara Patinkin said having children
makes her a better leader, improving her
patience, sense of humor and ability to col-
laborate and communicate.
“My children remind me to laugh at the
little things and to not take things so seri-
ously all the time,” Sara Patinkin said.
Ben Patinkin said she loves her job and
is “very good at it,” and “she is a charming,
caring, smart person who I love to spend
time with.”
He said something many people might
not know about his wife is her passion for
the reintroduction of wolves in the lower
48 states. Wolves have captivated her since
she was 13 and did a class assignment on
them. Her husband surprised her with a
trip to Yellowstone National Park on her
30th birthday, where she spied gray wolves
in the wild in the Lamar Valley.
“To see them back in their natural envi-
ronment among the other wildlife of Yel-
lowstone was something I’ll keep with me
for my lifetime,” she said.
