Joyland by Stephen King
I think Joyland is one of the best Stephen King books that I have
read. Because King loved paperback books growing up he chose
Hard Case Crime to publish this book and is available in paper-
back only. Set in 1973, college student Devin Jones takes a sum-
mer job as a carny at a small town amusement park that may be
haunted. I have to admit that amusement parks have always been
a little exciting and a little scary for me and King plays on these
emotions very well. This is a mystery story, a ghost story, and a
sentimental “coming of age” story; it has it all and it’s hard to put down once you
start. King has created characters who will stay with you long after the last page is turned.
Everyone likes a good book recommendation. If you’ve read a book you enjoyed recently,
