Sequoia Veterinary Clinic is excited
to offer a new, state of the art, therapy
laser for treatment of many common
conditions in your pets as seen on
Good Morning America. The therapy
laser works by using a beam of laser
light to deeply penetrate the tissue
without damaging it.
The laser energy causes a biological
response which leads to reduced pain,
decreased inflammation and increased
healing speed. We are the first clinic in
the immediate area to offer this special-
ized treatment.
Many professional sports teams use
this type of laser on professional ath-
letes that have sustained some type of
injury. The therapy laser is a drug free,
surgery free, non-invasive treatment
used for relieving pain with little to no
known side effects.
When your pet receives a therapy
laser treatment, it is administered by
using a smooth hand piece to treat the
affected area. Your pet may feel gentle
and soothing warmth while receiving
the treatment. Most treatments only
take a few minutes and do not require
sedation or clipping.
Some of the common conditions
that can be treated with laser therapy
are arthritis, wounds, hip dysplasia, ear
infections, broken bones, dental dis-
ease, lick granulomas, hot spots, urinary
tract disease and sprains and strains to
name a few.
Conditions that are more severe will
require a series of treatments initially
then a maintenance program. Other
conditions may only require 1-2 treat-
ments total.
We have staff members certified to
administer treatments to any area your
pet may be experiencing pain. Please
call our clinic at 503-266-6090 for more
information about the therapy laser
and how it may be helpful for your
family pet.

When you think about the fall season what comes to mind in terms of
healthy eyes and vision? Here are a few tips and reminders for fall.
An Eye Exam by Any Other Name is Not the Same- Vision screenings that
children often receive at school are not the same as a comprehensive eye
exam. Vision screenings are just that- screenings. Start the school year
off right by scheduling a comprehensive eye exam for your children and
yourself.
Keep Rockin’ Those Sunglasses- Even when it is cloudy outside UV
rays can penetrate the cloud cover, which means UV protective sun-
glasses should be worn daily. On a day that is slightly overcast UV levels
are about the same as on a clear day. So continue to keep those sun-
glasses handy. If sum-
mer has left you with
lost or damaged sun-
glasses come by our
office to check out or
fun and fashionable
selection including
favorite brands like Ray
Ban and Coach.
Fall Eye Allergies-
Fall can stir up a myriad
of eye allergies, most of
which are airborne,
including pollen, mold,
dust, and pet dander.
Try to avoid things that
trigger eye allergies.Wearing sun glasses can also help shield your eyes
from allergens. If you feel like more intervention is needed schedule an
appointment to discuss allergies and treatments with your eye doctor.
Wash Your Hands- Keep your hands clean by washing them frequent-
ly and avoid touching your eyes to prevent the spread of flu and eye-
related illnesses like conjunctivitis (pink eye.)
Keep Those Follow-Up Appointments- If you have been diagnosed
with diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, or pre-glaucoma you
have probably been put on a schedule for follow up appointments to
monitor the health of your eyes. It is important to keep these appoint-
ments. Small changes in the health of your eye and your vision can
occur without you noticing, only a comprehensive eye exam can reveal
changes that may need attention.
