W
hether you are
looking for the
latest releases,
second-run films
or obscure cult classics, there
are several options for movie
buffs all around the area.
If you’re looking for BIG, Ci-
netopia offers a 70-foot-wide the-
ater screen —most movie the-
ater screens run about 55 feet.
Bridgeport Village offers films
in digital IMAX (which is not as
large as a true IMAX screen,
which can be found at OMSI or
at the Evergreen Aviation &
Space Museum, in McMinnville),
but is still larger than many oth-
er area theaters.
If you’re looking for some-
thing out of the ordinary, the
99WDrive-In in Newberg is one
of the few drive-in movie the-
aters in the country, and one of
the last in the Portland area.
The Joy Cinema in Tigard of-
fers a weekly screening of ob-
scure cult films, which it shows
free of charge. The large one-
screen theater also shows sec-
ond-run films seven days a
week, along with the Valley Cin-
ema Pub in Beaverton.
Below is a list of local the-
aters. Film listings and show-
times are available on fandango.
