Today’s bowling alleys are a far cry from a generation ago

ack in the day, everyone’s par-
ents seemed to belong to a
bowling league. There were
cool monogrammed shirts,
denim vests with appliques and person-
alized bowling balls.
The alleys were smoky, the beer was
weak, and the rental shoes were ugly.
Today, the shoes are still ugly, but
bowling alleys have come a long way.
Alleys now feature full menus, micro
brews, great music and a fun venue to
meet friends or spend time with family.
You no longer have to add up your own
scores, and automatic bumpers make
playing with beginners fun.
So dig into mom and dad’s closet and
pull out the bowling shirt — it’s still
cool — and head out to an area bowling
alley.
