E
very autumn since 2009, a
church in Tigard has hosted an
indoor art festival, inviting art
lovers from all over Washington
County and beyond to peruse fine art,
listen to music, eat dessert and rub
elbows.
This year is no different.
The Celebrate the Gifts Art Festival will
begin with a “Meet the Artists” preview
reception Friday, Oct. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m. at
Calvin Presbyterian Church, 10445 S.W.
Canterbury Lane, Tigard. Artists will be
present and their works will be for sale.
Portland harpist Ellen Lindquist will be the
featured soloist, which bears a $5 charge.
Admission to the remaining show —
scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct.
6 — is free.
Nearly 60 juried Oregon artists will share
their woven works, collage, watercolors, oil and
acrylic paintings, photographs, ceramics,
jewelry, fabric, wood and metal arts. The show
will also feature periodic artist demonstrations,
live music and a fashion show (Saturday only).
Gourmet desserts will be for sale during the
weekend. Donations and a percentage of art
sales will benefit local charities. As a direct
result of last year’s show, $6,000 was donated to
the community, said Dee Rommel of the festival.
This year’s proceeds will benefit the Good
Neighbor Center, Union Gospel Mission, Oregon
Food Bank, Western FarmWorkers and Habitat
for Humanity, among others.
Here are profiles of some of the featured
artists:
