TIGARD MONTHLY
N
ow is the perfect time of year to
cozy up to Tigard’s many sports
bars. You’ll find a number of
establishments that not only
serve up exciting televised
sporting events, but offer a
chance for you to grab a quick bite and hobnob
with your neighbor.
Just off Pacific Highway is
Blitz Sports
Pub
. Eric Starr, general manager, said Blitz is
an all-purpose sports restaurant.
“We have a full menu with a big selection of
great items,” Starr said. “We are very family
friendly. We’re anything but a bar in the
traditional sense.”
In addition to yummy food, Starr said Blitz
offers great access to sports programming.
“We have the ability to show nine separate
sporting events at
one time,” Starr said.
“That means we can
carry the entire slate
of NFL games.” Blitz
also offers a game
room, which is a
wonderful choice for
kids of all ages.
While
you’re
enjoying games on 30
big-screen televisions,
check the menu for
some great meals. A couple of specials are
Prime Rib ($9.95) on Sunday nights and $1
Taco Tuesday.
On the burger menu, try The Drexler,
named after former Trailblazer superstar
Clyde Drexler. Your eyes will pop out when
you see a half-pound of natural, fresh, black
angus (with special seasoning) topped with
pepper bacon, a healthy chunk of avocado,
fried egg and cheddar cheese. This delicious
burger is served on a toasted telera roll.
There’s a special atmosphere at Blitz Sports
Pub during high-profile sporting events.
“It’s awesome. It’s a great atmosphere,”
Starr said. “You have people who are excited
to be among like-minded folks — the place is
full. People are in high spirits. We all have a
blast.”
Starr added, “There’s always something
going on at Blitz.”
At
Bull Mountain Bar and Grill
, Mark
Wright, who is proprietor with Renee Morris,
said his bar has a “Cheers” feel.
“We have a lot of customers who come in,”
Wright said, noting that he tries to introduce
customers to one another.
Customers can chat with one another
while enjoying sports on 10 big-screen, high
definition televisions.
“I get all the games,” Wright said. “I do
Blazers, I do Timbers, I do Pac-12 network, I
do the MLB Package, I do the NFL package.
All that stuff.”
Bull Mountain Bar and Grill also offers a
section featuring interactive games, where
you can play with folks from around the
world.
After you’ve played some interactive
games or a bit of pool, order from a menu that
features the Classic Rueben Sandwich. This
is Fulton corned beef on dark rye bread with
Tillamook Swiss, 1000 Island dressing and
sauerkraut.
Wright added, “We have Chef Paul, who
comes up with a lot of specials and ideas.”
Darcy Burchell, who likes to come to Bull
Mountain Bar and Grill with her husband,
Jim, said, “They serve really good food, and
it’s kid friendly.”
