Petitioners in Washington

TIGARD | TUALATIN | SHERWOOD
In 1993, Crown Carpets opened its Tigard
location, which had previously been a Girod’s
Red Apple Supermarket. The store withstood
a scary moment in 2003, when a severe snow
and ice storm caused the roof to fall in. After
moving to temporary quarters on Highway 99,
Crown Carpets moved back to Main Street in
August 2005, with “renewed vigor.”
Crown Carpets is a full-service floor-
covering shop. “We are involved in every phase
of the flooring process,” Lepper said. “We don’t
limit ourselves to floors. We also do counter
tops and other kinds of work.”
Among the products offered: carpets,
hardwoods, laminate flooring, sheet vinyl and
linoleum, ceramic and luxury vinyl tile, and
stone and granite surfaces.
Crown Carpets is in business to provide
great value for its customers.
“Everything we can do to increase our
volumes, and subsequently reduce our cost,
makes us a better value for the consumer,”
Lepper pointed out.
Customer service is important at Crown
Carpets.
“Wewant customers to understand that they
can shop here very comfortably, without feeling
like they’re going to be forced into anything,”
Lepper said. “We have a very large showroom
full of large samples that we loan for free, with
no cost or obligation.”
Lepper likes to say Crown Carpets provides
“hands-on” customer service from start to
finish.
“Our sales people literally represent
hundreds of years of experience in the floor-
covering industry,” Lepper said. “Our installers
have been with us for a long time — we really
do believewe are doingmore than just covering
floors.We’re helping themdecorate andmake a
statement.”
The Crown Carpets website is a rich
source of information. “We have a website
(crowncarpets.com) that describes who we
are, what we do, the myriad of suppliers we
represent,” Lepper said. “Every major supplier
of floor-covering products is involved with
Crown Carpets.”
Crown Carpets has helpedmany generations
of families. “Nothing ticklesme to this daymore
than the young ladywho comes inwith the baby
in the stroller and says, ‘My grandmother told
me not to talk to anybody but Crown Carpets.’
