Mary Murphy Holub and Kathleen Murphy Hogan – sisters and business partners
– carry on the business started by their mother as an antique store in 1973. Murphy’s
has since expanded into a retail furniture store with an excellent inventory of locally
made solid wood and upholstered furniture and mattresses.
“Our business is unique in our marketplace because we are community-based,

“The best part of our job is the fact that we really do enjoy it,” says Kathy. “It is not

Urban Decanter rst opened in 2007 and Rebecca purchased it in April of
2012.
“I wanted to work in an industry that I was passionate about,” Becky says.
“Before graduation from college I decided I would enter the food and
beverage industry which led me to purchase Urban Decanter.”
Becky grew up on a winery in Gaston and she got to see the wine industry
rst and foremost. Watching her parents make their dream happen led her
down the path to do the same.
When Becky is not at work she enjoys her other passion: Photography! She
loves to take pictures of everything from animals to landscapes. She also
loves to get outdoors and go hiking, take day trips and visit new restaurants.
