At The Grove Assisted
Living seniors live as independently
as they can in their own apartment
with support and assistance with their
daily personal care needs, balanced
delicious meals made for them, have
their medications managed for them
under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and enjoy socializing
in activities with other seniors. Our Memory Care offers the same
services but is centered around the “unique” individual needs of
those with memory impairment challenges.
The Grove Assisted Living opened in 1996 and our memory care
The Gardens opened in 2000.
“Working and caring for the aging in our community was part of
my growing up years,” Luan says. “My Mom and Dad have
been in the long term care
business since 1972 starting right here
in Forest Grove owning a nursing home. I really
don’t know any other business. I think of it as a way of life
instead of a job.”
Luan knew from the age of 6 that she wanted to be a nurse. She
became an RN in 1983 and continues to work in the family-owned
business as Administrator of The Grove Assisted Living and The
Gardens Enhanced Memory Care.
“Everyday we have the privilege of making a difference in the
lives of the residents and their families in our community.”

We are a temporary labor service, specializing in
agriculture, manufacturing, and nursery labor.
While working and recruiting for a big
employment agency, Dorothé saw the focus of
temporary employment shifting from technical
positions to labor openings.
“My boss didn’t want to pursue that, so I saw a
chance to fill a niche. I had the skill, experience
and resources to do it, so it was a natural fit,”
Dorothé says.
That was 15 years ago. Today, Dorothé
and Direct Labor, Inc. stand ready to assist
companies with their labor needs.

“We
make it
happen.”
When a business closes, many employees see it as a
setback. Fawn Can eld viewed it as an opportunity. After
nine years working for Horton’s Of ce Supply, Fawn knew
how many people in the Forest Grove area depended on
the small store for their printing needs. So when Gene
Horton retired, Fawn decided to open Forest Grove Business
Solutions.
“After Horton’s closed I decided I did not want to give
up those relationships I had established and wanted to open
something of my own,” she says. “So with the support of my
friends, family and all the clients who believed in me, Forest
Grove Business Solutions opened and is going strong.”
With experience in graphic design, Fawn has created a one-stop shop for jobs
varying to a few copies and business cards to glossy color brochures or website
design. The range of services keeps her on her toes.
“Everyday is different and every job is different as it comes with its own unique
instructions,” she says. “I work with my customers from start to nish and all those
steps in between, it is a thrill to have customers walk away happy. “
