Please join us at noon on Saturday, Oct.
5 at the entrance of Clackamette Park in
Oregon City for the dedication of “Mid
Run,” a We Love Clean Rivers RiPPLe
Legacy Sculpture created by local artist
Ben Dye. The design and materials used
in the sculpture were inspired by the
Down the River Clean Up and Great
Willamette Clean Up, two annual com-
munity events that together have helped
remove over 50,000 lbs. of waste and
metal debris from the Clackamas and
Willamette Rivers since 2002.
The sculpture highlights the importance
of salmon to our local culture and heri-
tage, as well as the importance of clean
river water to salmon. Area residents con-
tributed to the project by offering sugges-
tions and ideas to the artist during the
2012 Willamette Falls Festival. Oregon
City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee participated in selecting the
artwork’s location.
“Mid Run” is a testament to all people
who value clean and healthy river sys-
tems. It commemorates the 10th annual
Down the River Clean Up and the fourth
annual Great Willamette Clean Up. “Mid
Run” especially honors the thousands of
volunteers, local businesses and environ-
mental, recreational and educational
organizations that made and continue to
make these river cleanups a splashing
success!
The project was made possible by We
Love Clean Rivers in collaboration with
the Clackamas County Arts Alliance, with
funding from an Oregon City Metro
Enhancement grant and Clackamas River
Water Providers.
Questions about the dedication may be
directed to Elizabeth Klein, Clackamas
County Arts Alliance Program Manager, at
503-655-0525.

2013 Commemorative
Poster Celebrates
Willamette Falls Festival
and Lock Fest
The 2013 Willamette Falls Festival and Lock Fest are
“Celebrating Our Industrial Heritage” with a commemora-
tive limited edition poster created by Oregon City graphic
artist Lisa Wilcox. This year’s poster features artwork by
Lake Oswego artist Jean Thomas who was inspired to
paint this scene when the traffic on 99E suddenly came
to a standstill at the Willamette Falls overlook.
Ms. Thomas describes the event as being one of those
unique opportunities when the light coming through the
clouds created a “golden glow” over the falls and surround-
ing buildings. People were pulling over and jumping out of
their cars to take pictures, and she snapped a few herself.
The glow only lasted a few minutes, but is beautifully cap-
tured in her painting titled “Golden Light on the Willamette.”
The acid-free paper used in the production of this poster was
manufactured and donated by the West Linn Paper Company
mill, which is still operating on Willamette Falls Locks.
Pre-purchase the poster online at willamettefallsfestival.
com/poster, or buy it during the festival at the main pavil-
ion tent in downtown Oregon City or at Lock Fest in West
Linn. Posters are $10 each for advance purchase and
during the event. Pre-purchased posters may be picked
up at Lock Fest or the Willamette Falls Festival main pavil-
ion tent.
