The client had already transformed her backyard
into an Asian-inspired sanctuary complete
with fountains, tea house and custom bamboo
structures. However, this early 1990s traditional
home still presented with a dated interior. Now,
how to transform the inside to compliment the
backyard?
We decided to save the extensive oak shelving
in the family room by first using a red undercoat,
then distressing in black. The result is beautiful
cabinetry that will fit any décor.
The new kitchen boasts stunning bamboo
cabinets with a combination of black-honed and
red dragon granite. A custom-designed etched
glass door will leave you breathless. The dated oak floors
were stripped and then stained a chocolate/gray.
The powder bath, formerly two rooms now combined,
offers an ADA-compliant walk-in shower complete with a
stone sink and imported rice paper glass works.
The upstairs master bath had a tiny fiberglass shower
and a rarely used soaking tub. Today, this bath showcases
an amazing walk-in shower with a stunning mosaic
tile motif, dual sinks and custom glass. The bamboo
cabinetry continues with a floating layout in both upstairs
bathrooms and extensive media room plans. The addition
of a deck off the upstairs master bedroom that duplicates
the bamboo creations in the back yard is a work of art.
