This home has a great location in a highly
desired neighborhood and the floor plan suited the
home owners’ active lifestyle, but many features
needed an upgrade. This whole-house remodel
was done in phases to lessen any inconvenience to
the owners.
In the kitchen, we began by replacing
the outdated laminate with custom granite
countertops, adding depth and warmth, all the
way to the bay windows. Metallic-toned glass tiles
add a lux look to the backsplash. A dual fuel range
with convection oven and all-new appliances
bring the kitchen functionally and aesthetically
up to date.
Next: the main bath. Dated in style and needing more
functionality, the main bath was outfitted with a molded
fiberglass tub with high sides, making getting in and out a
chore. The existing tub was removed and a low threshold
shower was installed. Large brick set porcelain tile opens
the space, and a custom granite-topped vanity boasts a
new sink and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. A coordinating
porcelain tile was used on the floor to complete the look.
The master bath had a design problem from the original
construction: the shower was a tiny 36-inch x 36-inch
fiberglass stall. The old shower was removed and the area
reframed to fit a new tile shower that increased the interior
space by 50 percent. A custom vanity with granite top made
bending down to reach the sink a thing of the past.
