When our
homeowners
purchased this 1,400-
SF, 1941 home their
priority was location,
knowing they would
quickly outgrow the
2-bed, 1 bath home. 3 years of dreaming
brought them to Metke Remodeling. Their
team-focused process – preliminary plans,
interior design, budgeting, than pairing
with Endpoint Design for architectural
drawings created for this home.
First, a 2nd floor just for kids – Two
bedrooms, jack-and-jill bath, open study
loft flooded with natural light offers
usable and enjoyable
spaces. Second, an
eat-in kitchen large enough for family
to congregate and live in, with modern
appliances and finishes was created.
The challenges, however, were in the
structural constraints of the existing
structure and the multiple accesses
through the kitchen. The new kitchen
maximizes the available area for everyday
cooking needs, and makes best use of
the traffic patterns and adjacent walk-
in pantry. Every view offers a stunning
focal point – from the contrasting glass
front stained cabinets flanking the SS
hood, to the dramatic granite slab island
countertop, all topped by the 16-foot
sliding glass doors that lead to an elevated
concrete paver deck overlooking the back
yard. The new master bath uses every
square inch of space to incorporate the
luxuries of a master suite within a small
footprint. Wall to wall mirrors, natural light
and timeless materials offer a grand feel
to the room. Tailor-made design elements
such as the concealable dog bed area in
the laundry and surface mount sliding
door in the master enhance the home’s
livability and character.
A top design and construction goal
to keep with the original character of
the neighborhood was met through
the layout of the home combined with
pergolas, a covered porch, new detached
garage, and custom built-ins, commonly
seen in a home built 60+ years ago.
