“It’s easy,” Rimerman said. “I
have the best assistants in the
land.”
Indeed she does, for each of
her 20 assistants are handpicked
former art students from Tigard
High School. The students are
now in college and/or graduated,
but come back for the “proper”
beginning of summer.
“I could not create the Open
Show magic without them,” Ri-
merman said.
The Open Show is curated
so no one is overwhelmed with
the volume of work. Rimerman
takes great care to guide the
viewer throughout the exhibit
by silently leading them with
color and shape. Viewers may
not even be aware of the path-
way until they have meandered
through the exhibit. It is also
hung with a little whimsy. Take
some time to absorb the atmo-
sphere and notice what is placed
in proximity of each other. While
you enjoy the show, acknowl-
edge the education, time and
courage it took for each artist to
exhibit his or her work.
