Candles and tea
Dazzle mom with gifts that can make her
home feel and smell festive. Paper Caper co-
owner Kristina Roberts suggests placing
some of mom’s favorite scents under the
tree. Choose from 20 different fragrant,
handmade Mixture candles that include
wonderful holiday scents. The 20- and
40-hour, naturally derived candles have a
huge following and you’ll want to smell
them for yourself. Create relaxation with a
tea infuser and tea selections from Tea
forte. Fill mom’s stocking with award-win-
ning teas such as luscious fruit varieties,
healing herbs, samplers, holiday blends and
top-sellers. Transfer tea time into an experi-
ence. Shop 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through
Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Sunday. 16829 65th Drive. Lake Os-
wego. 503-620-9460
Socks and hosiery
Wrap mom up in warmth this season with
a stylish pair of socks from Sock Dreams.
Cover those legs and feet in anklets, footies,
knee highs, fashion tights, leg warmers and
more. Dreamer Jen says mom might love to
style a fashionable pair of cashmere stocks.
The practical fiber is strong, warm and pos-
sibly a little more costly than mom would
spend on herself, so what a great gift. The
lightweight softness comes in a huge variety
of colors. The yummy socks start at $13.
Snuggle mom’s toes into Bella fleece-lined
tights or leggings. Super soft inside and
opaque outside, the cozy, luxurious tights
are sized from small to extra large. These
Italian-made options are stretch tested. Sock
Dreams has lots of plus-size options, animal
prints, florals and holiday patterns including
string lights and snowflakes. Pick up a pair
any day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. 8005 S.E. 13th
Ave., Sellwood. 503-232-3330
Vintage treats
Create a mood with a gift that brings back
memories. If mom enjoys collectibles, vin-
tage items and sparkly treasures, Beaver-
ton’s Curiosities is the place to visit. Open
since April of this year, the vintage mall has
51 dealers offering a wonderful selection of
kitchenware, costume jewelry, nostalgia,
glassware, memorabilia and vintage fash-
ions. Wander through a treasure trove of
original gifts that are strong on character.
Looking for something with a little patina, a
showy pattern, or fabulous antique silver ac-
cessory that look great with contemporary
tableware, several vendors have an answer.
Come see the chic, new fashion space, Mir-
ror Mirror, featuring a nice selection of vin-
tage clothing. Shop Tuesday through Sun-
day 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 12705 S.W. Beaverdam
Road, Beaverton. 503-646-8653
Old-time favorites
House of Vintage also offers a variety of
vintage gift ideas that can help mom spruce
up her wardrobe and home. The
13,000-square-foot-store has a wide selection
of vintage, retro and new accessories to
make her holiday a memorable one. Bundle
her up in the snazzy vintage coat she’s al-
ways wanted. According to store manager,
Galen Murphy, Pendleton is always a hot gift
item..... alongside the popular “ugly Christ-
mas sweater.” A faux fur-collared sweater
can be a hit under the tree, and a truly fash-
ionable mom can rock a chic bow tie. A mom
who is a collector will appreciate the
thoughtfulness of a signed piece of artwork
and jewelry. If you can meet with the dealer,
their anecdotes will add interest to the gift.
House of Vintage claims to be Portland’s
largest vintage store selling “everything you
could ever want.” Shop all the nooks and
crannies everyday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Kitchen essentials
Tie a ribbon around a pretty cake stand,
elegant serving tray, or sparkling silver-
tiered server. Pick them up at Nothing
Bundt Cakes in Tualatin. The small fran-
chise has been open for six months and its
owners, Christie Burger and Michelle Roche,
have already served up many of their bundt
cakes in ten different flavors. What cake
connoisseurs may not know is that the bak-
ery also carries a cute assortment of cool
and unique gifts. Consider matching mom
and daughter aprons, an “I Love Mom” mug,
a festive seasonal or classic platter or holi-
day game set. For the baker on your list, the
Prissy Plates cake stands are elegant and
practical. They are designed with a change-
able ribbon to easily dress them up for any
occasion. Give the mom who loves wine, and
a good laugh, a 10-inch-tall wine glass that
discretely holds an entire bottle of wine. The
