of Santa and his elves who will flip the switch on the
City’s Christmas tree, and then take time for visits and
pictures with little believers. Cookies, cocoa and horse-
drawn carriage rides start the season in style.
Community safety is the goal with two events
designed to protect the environment and the citizens.
The City’s
Dumpster Day
clean-up event is a safe alter-
native for the environment. With an annual opportunity
in June, residents can drop-off recyclables and usable
donations, keeping hazardous materials out of landfills
or illegal roadside drops. In August,
National Night
Out
is all about safe neighborhoods. The City’s nation-
ally acclaimed night against crime brings neighbors
together for street parties and potlucks where crime
prevention awareness is the message delivered by the
City’s police, along with other law enforcement agen-
cies and firefighters who caravan throughout town with
lights and sirens, bringing excitement with the safety
messages they deliver.
Happy Valley is a community that can credit strong
volunteer efforts as a part of its success story. The
City is proud to support the annual events of commu-
nity partners that include the
Happy Valley Fun Run
,
community
Red Cross blood drives
and the annual,
city-wide
Community Garage Sale Weekend
and the
Sunnyside Farmers Market

“Our family loves the small town feel of Happy Valley.
Our kids are part of a close community and love hav-
ing the park, soccer fields and school
near our home. You really do get to
know your neighbors here!”
