Owner Scott Ringo describes Ringo’s
as a neighborhood pub.
“What we’re mainly known for is our
cheeseburgers,” Ringo said. “We won
2010 best cheeseburger in Portland on
Citysearch.”
Ringo’s offers great happy hour
appetizers, such as hot and spicy buffalo
wings, served with a choice of dressings.
Try the breaded mozzarella sticks (double-
coatedwith bread crumbs and deep fried). A
more exotic choice would be deep-fried dill
pickles, lightly coated with a dill-flavored
breading. If your mouth is still watering,
you can’t go wrong with thick-cut, beer-
battered onion rings or butter breaded
mushrooms.
Ringo’s Bar & Grill has many amenities,
including big-screen televisions and several
pool tables. It’s also a great spot to gather
with your friends to watch sports. “We get
a lot of following for Blazer and Timber
games,” Ringo pointed out.
A short hop and a jump from Ringo’s is
another popular eatery with the downtown
crowd,
Broadway Saloon Bar and Grill.
“Most people associate Broadway Saloon
with our steaks,” manager Kim Carpenter
said. “We offer prime rib on Fridays. We
have steaks, hamburgers, sandwiches.”
Happy hour is offered every day at
Broadway Saloon, and there’s a happy hour
menu featuring items for $3.95.
“For happyhour, a lot of people do the half-
ton hamburger — the chicken quesadilla is
also a very big item,” Carpenter said. Other
items on the menu include spicy or plain
wings, cheese sticks, jalapeno poppers
(cream-cheese filled with a deep-fried
breading), potato skins and steak skewer.
Broadway Saloon has a rustic look that
will remind you of the old west. Their
website says the name and decor were
inspired by the taverns and saloons of
Virginia City, Nev.
