The Street can also provide inspiration to
finally update old fixtures, replace or refin-
ish trim and wainscoting or add fun features
that have always been on the wish list — think
kegerators, wine fridges or upgrades to home
entertainment systems.
And if, after touring all nine homes on this
year’s NW Natural Street of Dreams, you find
yourself inspired but still hitting a wall, Hull-
inger has some sound advice.
“If you feel like you don’t know where to
start,” he says, “enlist the help of a local inte-
rior designer.”
That said, the ideas at the NW Natural Street
of Dreams aren’t just confined to the inside.
Homes on the Street have also long been
known for their inspirational outdoor kitch-
ens, living spaces and entertainment areas. All
the homes on this year’s Street feature such
refuges —
elite Development Northwest’s
has a waterfall and fireplace,
BC Custom Con-
struction’s
got two courtyards and a fire pit
— and this year,
Standard TV & Appliance
is
bringing back its VIP outdoor living pavilion.
Decked out with a full outdoor kitchen, bistro
tables, and more, the high-beam structure is
set up to show anyone who comes through
the NW Natural Street of Dreams just what
they could do in their own backyard.
“It’s really designed to show the Street of
Dreams attendees what’s possible with out-
door living spaces,” said Standard’s marketing
director
Dan Reese
. “It’s just another beauti-
ful space here at the Street of Dreams.”

Look closely at some of the tiles in the
homes along the NWNatural Street of Dreams
and you may see a lot of natural stone—or, at
least what seems like natural stone.
But take a closer look, and you’ll notice that
some of these tiles are actually the latest and
greatest porcelain, which has evolved over
the years.
“Porcelain tile technology has greatly in-
creased and is better at printing than ever
