“I think people are willing to
invest in a well-done, generous-
sized
outdoor
space
maybe even more so
than they are in other
spaces in their homes.”
— Jeff Metke, president of
Metke Remodeling &
Woodworking.

eople love their remodels: the
new kitchens, the master suites,
the basement entertainment
rooms.
But if there’s one thing they might
love even more than having the
inside of their home remodeled, it’s
having the outside done.
“I think people are willing to invest
in a well-done, generous-sized
outdoor space maybe even more
so than they are in other spaces
in their homes,” says
Jeff Metke
,
president of
Metke Remodeling &
Woodworking
.
Both of Metke’s projects on the
tour this year included outdoor
living areas that extend the reach
of the homes beyond the interior
walls.
Steve Stolze
, president of
SLS Custom Homes & Remodels
,
also completed an impressive
outdoor space for his clients that
includes a full outdoor kitchen, a
masonry fireplace and a hot tub,
all underneath a roof that rises two
stories.
Not all outdoor spaces have to be
over-the-top, though. The clients of
Joe Petrina
, president of
Petrina
Construction
, just wanted a place to
hang out outside when the weather
gets nice. Their existing yard was a
touch small, so Petrina extended by
several feet all the way around.
“Now they have a place where their
kids can play and do their thing,” he
says.
