PARTY IN THE PARK
July 18, 2013
W
hat do you get when you combine
classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods,
imports, customs, trucks and motor-
cycles with live music and interna-
tional food booths? It’s the ninth annual Classic
at T-Hills on Saturday, July 27, at the 90-acre Tu-
alatin Hills Park and Recreation District Howard
M. Terpenning Recreation Complex on Southwest
158th Avenue and Walker Road in Beaverton.
The classic auto show is just one slice of a big
day at the Party in the Park, the park district’s
largest community event. The daylong affair will
transform the district’s main campus into a carni-
val of activities.
The free auto show event is expected to attract
8,000 people. Classic car exhibitors pay a $20
charge for all cars and trucks, and $10 for motor-
cycles. Funds will benefit Tualatin Hills Park
Foundation and its programs.
The auto show entertainment will be provided
by two bands, The Shifterz and Sol-Mars ’60s surf
band.
Doors open to exhibitors at 7 a.m., and the
show starts at 8:30 a.m. Judging ends at 1:30 p.m.,
and presentation of awards is from 3 to 4 p.m.

tion website, thpf.org. For information on The

portions, we had a new frame made six inches

boards and top
also needed to
be lengthened.
The truck bed
had been short-
ened by the
previous own-
er.
From the be-
ginning, we
knew the color
was going to be
purple — we
just had a hard
time finding
the “right” pur-
ple. After looking for more than a year, we were
about to give up when a friend asked me to look
at his newly painted boat motor. As soon as I saw
it, I called my wife, and at first glance, she said,
“That’s it. That’s the color.” He found this color on
“peel and stick pin striping” for a boat. We had
the paint mixed, and Kreative Images thought it
best to paint a gallon can to make sure we would
