LAKE OSWEGO REVIEW

Dressing up
Dressing down means much more than just slipping
on a pair of well-worn jeans and a T-shirt. This jacket
adds a bit of style to a relaxed look — just toss it over
your shoulder and off you go.
And for continued warmth and style throughout the
day, you can’t beat a fisherman’s sweater in a cable knit
pattern from lamb’s wool. It’s one of this seasons must-
haves. And vintage corduroys in a slim fit should be in
every man’s wardrobe rotation.
Tip: The hottest look around? A Scottish
cashmere scarf. Wrap a bold, colorful scarf
loosely around the neck and let it hang freely to
add depth and visual interest to your outfit.
Casual wear
The world has become more and more casual, but dressing
up is still very much alive.
And it’s all about the cut in this tailored, modern sport coat.
It skims the body and trims the frame perfectly, resulting in a
younger, fresher look. This jacket — made of imported Italian
fabric of worsted wool and cotton — is made for travel. Just
“roll it up” and put it in your suitcase.
Wear it over a perfect white shirt, a must-have item for
every man’s closet. Here’s to looking good, without the hassle;
it’s wrinkle free, of course.
Add a showstopper tie with a bright graphic print.
Wool gabardine slacks in perfect black complete the outfit.
Tip: Throw a cardigan sweater over a nice T-shirt
and pair of jeans and you’re ready to rock and roll.
Plus, don’t forget a trusty umbrella by Barbour for
those rainy days.
Patrick James Manager
Frank Krahmann fills us in:
n
A sport coat
accommodates the business/
casual lifestyle and is a
sportier version of a suit coat.
The fabric usually has texture
— often times patterned —
and it works well with dress
slacks, khakis, corduroys or
dark, simple jeans.
n
A blazer usually comes
in solid colors of navy, camel
or black and is made of
smooth fabric with pockets
and metal buttons. Pair it
with slacks or jeans — quite
possibly the most versatile
piece in your closet.
n
A suit coat is just that, a
coat from a suit. It is usually
of a dressier fabric and can
be paired perfectly with
gabardine slacks or dressed
down with a pair of chinos.
It has come a long way, as
it actually evolved from the
20th century when men
were searching for something
they could wear casually to
a social function or tennis
match.
So, what’s
the difference
between a
sport coat, a
blazer and a
suit coat?
