GRAND HOTEL
Jan. 11 - Feb. 17, 2013, Thursdays through Sundays
Come spend an evening at the Grand Hotel Berlin. Based on the
novel by Vicki Baum and subsequent MGM feature film, the musical
captures the high life and optimism of Berlin in 1928.
While the stock market is booming in the rest of the world, Berlin is
seething with a wrecked economy and shattered spirit. The mood of
the people teeters on the edge of a volcano that will soon be seduced
by Hitler and erupt into World War II.
The center of the action is the illustrious Grand Hotel, through whose
revolving doors pass the fading, but still-beautiful prima ballerina
(
Cherie Price
); the charming young Baron (
Matthew Hayward
); the
mortally ill bookkeeper (
Ron Daum
); the ambitious Hollywood hopeful
(
Natalie Stringer
); the scheming businessman (
Darren Hurley
); the
honest, hardworking father-to-be (
Alan Anderson
); and the cynical
doctor (
Scott Parker
). Directed by
Bruce Blanchard
.
