A
s I type this, my new puppy,
Bella, a 4.6 pound “Bo-Chi” — a
Boston Terrier, Mexican Chi-
huahua mix — sits in the chair
next to me. She’s curled up and comfy,
exhausted after a busy day running er-
rands, playing with other dogs and trying
to navigate my three story house. Our first
week together has
been a blast. She’s
even slept on my
pillow. One day
she licked me 400
times. It’s hard to
believe that with
her manners and
personality she’s
just a few weeks
old.
In fact, I can’t
imagine how I
used to come
home to silence. A
sweet puppy waiting is so much more fun.
Yes, many locals are suckers for their
furry companions. Whether it’s spending
hours at the dog park, splurging on dog
accessories or outfitting their offices to
accommodate their canine guests, man’s
best friend has all he needs right here in
Lake Oswego.
Doggy lifestyle
Lake Oswego’s Lexi Dog Boutique and
Social Club Store Manager Stephanie Par-
kin said she loves her pet-friendly job. The
shop (www.LexiDog.com) at 366 Third
Street features dog daycare, a boutique,
grooming and party areas.
“Our treats are delicious and all made at
our Macadam Ave. location,” Parkin said
of the treats such as peanut butter cups
and cheese crisps that are made of all nat-
ural ingredients safe for dogs.
The boutique also features dog food,
Nylabones ($8 to $25), Chuckits! ball
throwers and mix-and-match treats ($2 to
$6). Make sure to check out their animal
collars by brands such as Sweet Pickles’
Designs and allow your dog to show some
personality. In every color and size, with
or without rhinestones and iridescent
colors, their leashes and collars are truly
unique and affordable (many under $25).
And this store name says it all. Lucky
Me Boutique at 385 First St. Suite 115
(www.LuckyMeBoutique) really knows
how to pamper the dog lover.
“I like the customers who bring their
pets in,” said Marie Lerud, owner. “One
dog named Penny never wants to leave.”
And why leave when there’s so much
cute dog-related merchandise to check out?
From Dog Lover charms ($5.95), Rescue
Me Now dog magnets ($5.95), Blinx Pets
hair accessories ($16.95), books ($5.95), tea
towel linens with dog stitching ($10.95),
Dog Slobber hand sanitizer ($6.95) and dog
decorated coin purses ($12), there’s a gift
for any dog lover.
With several pet shops, veterinary clin-
ics and the off-leash expansive Hazalia
Field Dog Park, dogs in Lake Oswego have
many options.
Margot Cougill of Lake Oswego likes
to visit the dog park to read while her 2.5
year old Vizsla, Clyde, runs around.
