What better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lake
Oswego Festival of the Arts than to experience recent and past works by artists
who made the Festival what it is today?
Past artists bring scope of talent to the Festival
T
he Festival is what it is
today because of the pas-
sion of artists of yester-
day. The Gold Invitational Show
recognizes and commemorates
this important fact with the ex-
hibit – proudly showing works of
some of the artists who’ve exhib-
ited over the years.
“I have been delighted by
the range of artworks submit-
ted for this exhibit. It has been
fun to hear artists’ memories
of the Lake Oswego Festival of
the Arts, particularly about op-
portunities for their careers
and personal relationships the
Festival helped facilitate,” said
Andrea McKeever, assistant cu-
rator. “Visitors will walk away
with a good sense of the range of
talent that has helped shape the
Festival.”
By bringing together artworks
from past invitational show
participants the exhibit gives
festivalgoers opportunities to
experience a range of mediums
and subjects while encouraging
them to celebrate artists whose
contributions have allowed the
Festival to endure and grow.
"It is our pleasure to honor
these artists who had a huge
impact establishing the quality
of art for the Festival. I'm look-
ing forward to seeing what they
bring," said Joan Sappington,
Festival adviser and director
emeritus.
“On moving to Lake Oswego
I immediately volunteered to
work with the art festival,” said
exhibiting artist Sonja Don-
nelly. “In doing so I developed
strong and lasting friendships
with many wonderful artists
and art lovers. Working with
these people has always been a
joy, and seeing so many beauti-
ful pieces of art is always so in-
spiring to me as an artist. I have
loved watching the Lake Oswego
Festival grow over the years. I
believe it is such an asset to the
community and a wonderful op-
portunity for artists such as me
to show what we do to a large
audience.”
This exhibit will leave you with
a sense of the scope of talented
regional artists who have helped
build the Lake Oswego Festival of
the Arts through the years.
“Visitors will walk away with a good sense
of the range of talent that has helped shape
the Festival.”
