ads are notoriously hard to shop
for.
They’re oddly picky about their
clothes, still pulling out the same
suit and tie combos for work and that cheesy
sweater for the holidays, refusing to believe
their wardrobe needs anything more.
Books or movies? These days — with Net-
flix and iPads and Kindles — they’ve proba-
bly got everything they need.
But fear not: there are still plenty of op-
tions for Dad this year. Here are just a few:
Starbucks Verismo machine
Is the family coffee machine starting to
break down? The Verismo, which can be
found at Starbucks and other retail stores,
is a perfect do-it-all replacement that brews
not just regular coffee but also expresso
and lattes.
It’ll save money for Dad in the long run,
and maybe cut out the weekend Starbucks
run if he’s a latte junkie.
Golf balls
If Dad is a golfer, and he doesn’t hold a
PGA card, chances are that he loses a fair
amount of balls. Truly a foolproof stocking
stuffer, you can’t go wrong with golf balls —
as long as they’re not the only gift you
pick up.
A family gym membership
A family gym membership: An individual
membership might be a bit un-subtle, if Dad
needs to get back in shape. So why not make
it a family gift? In the long run, it doesn’t
cost much more, and who wants to work out
alone anyway? As long as the membership
card doesn’t stay buried in his wallet, it’s
pretty much guaranteed healthy fun.
Kindle Fire HDX
If Dad’s a reader and doesn’t already own
a tablet, this is a great option that’s consid-
erably cheaper than an iPad. He’ll have ac-
cess to millions of books, magazines and TV
shows, and there’s even a built in “Mayday”
button now for when he inevitably needs
help with the device.
