Royal Building Products and Carrier.
Robinson says builders aren’t required to sub-
mit receipts. Instead, they fill out and fax in re-
bate claim forms that ask for information about
which products were used and where. Builders
also supply basic information about project
completion.
Nancy Haskin, the HBA’s vice president of
membership, shows and education, said 93
OHBA members across the state are part of the
rebate program; 45 of them are in the local ar-
ea. Rebates for the most recent quarter ranged
from $84 to $1,133
“I’ve noticed that this program has really start-
ed to grow and gain some momentum,” Haskin
said. “It’s so easy for members to do and they
really can save a lot of money.”

HR Community Forum
Another feature of the new HR Portal – avail-
able to all HBAmembers whether they’re clients
of M&G or not – is an HR Community Forum,
here is where members can post questions on
HR-related topics and receive answers from
HR professionals from across the country. The
Forum is also full of discussions on everything
from workers’ comp to health care reform. Also
available are ready-to-print newsletters and
a massive document library full of industry-
specific forms, manuals and policies helpful to
business owners.
“It’s basically like Google for HR profession-
als,” Leong said.
He added that the portal, while beneficial to
any HBA member, will be great for builders and
small firms that may not have their own server
for storing important documents. Similarly,
businesses that have multiple locations will also
find it useful in providing easy access to docu-
ments no matter an office’s physical location.
“You could have an office in Portland and one
in Bend and they both can have access,” Leong
said. “It’s very convenient.”
The new portal is expected to launch in the first
quarter of 2013. For more information, call Le-
ong at 971-327-5785.
Fuel and New Vehicle Discounts
The HBA’s fuel program can also save HBA
members big money — to the tune of between
$500 and $2,000 a month, according to some
HBA members. The program, administered
through Supervised Fuels, offers discounted
fuel through Pacific Pride card lock stations.
Haskin said the benefit can be extremely help-
ful to companies that have fleets of vehicles.
Another benefit that the HBA offers as part
of its affiliation with the National Association
of Home Builders is one that Haskin hasn’t seen
too many members take advantage of even
though many probably could. Members who
are buying a new vehicle GM vehicle can get a
certificate from the NAHB that knocks $500 off
the negotiated price for the vehicle.
Throw in the low rates offered by credit card
merchant processing company SwipeNow, free
home listing services from Builders Digital Ex-
perience, and other perks straight from the HBA
— two free tickets to the NW Natural Street of
Dreams and the fall and spring home and gar-
den shows, continuing education opportunities,
social events great for networking, and much
more — and it’s hard to ignore the many ben-
efits that come with being an HBA member. To
take advantage of them all or to find out more,
