A measure of a community’s
livability is the recreational parks
and green spaces it provides to
its citizens.
P
arks, trails and green spaces shape the attrac-
tiveness of a community, but more importantly,
they enhance the lives of those who live there.
Outdoor recreation improves physical health and
mental vitality, and our residents take full advantage of the
city’s recreational opportunities.
At
Happy Valley Park
, 13770 SE Ridgecrest Road, 56
acres are designed for family outings, athletes, walkers, jog-
gers and more. Soccer, baseball and football fields enable
local youth and recreational clubs to practice and compete
here year-round. Two tennis courts and a basketball court
are open to the public, and runners and walkers benefit
from the three-quarter mile paved pathway for convenient
daily exercise. The park features a boardwalk wetlands area
where visitors can observe 24 acres of nature’s wonders.
The Splash Pad is a spectacular summer facility where
parents can sit and relax as their children play in 16 excit-
ing water spray sequences, with adjoining restroom facilities
with individual bathrooms and drinking fountains. Two fully
fenced, off-leash dog areas are located in the park, where
dogs can run free for exercise and socialization.
