A resume of service
“I’m kind of a three-part person,” Jones
explains. “I work hard, and I love my job and
what I do professionally. I lovemy family and
my friends and the kids. But then there’s this
third component: I’m just not whole if I don’t
have community engagement, community
service” in the mix.
“I’m just so grateful that I have a wife
who understands that about me as well,”
he adds, explaining how Mary, a dental
hygienist and Glencoe High School
graduate, supports his volunteer resume
— a crowded list of commitments that for
most people would leave little room for a day
job: he is vice chairman of the Beaverton
Visioning Advisory Committee, a member
of the Oregon League of Minority Voters
board, chairman of the Beaverton Urban
Redevelopment Agency board and the
chairman-elect of the Beaverton Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors.
Asked how he is able to strike a work-life-
volunteer balance, he again speaks of the
impact of his mother, Irene.
“My mom passed away young, but I think
it’s her spirit that lives inside of me that
keeps propelling me to do more and more in
the community,” Jones says.

in his work with the chamber.
