Robert Sherk has been named the Oregon
Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
Network’s 2013 “State Star.” The award is made
annually to individuals who make significant
contributions to the regional SBDC program and
show a strong commitment to small business.
Sherk is passionate about business, about teach-
ing, and the success of those he instructs and
counsels.
Robert is part of the Clackamas Community
College Small Business Development Center,
which sets the standard for the rest of the state.
“Bob brings to our network a long history
of personal and corporate success,” said Rob
Campell, director of the Clackamas SBDC. “He
is always ready to give a hand and to offer practi-
cal, timely and effective advice and instruction.
He has a strong commitment to our small busi-
ness community. This year he is working with 25
business owners.”
Prior to his second career in teaching, Sherk
was president and part owner of Ness and Com-
pany, the seventh largest privately held company
in Oregon, with annual sales of $350 million.
Sherk is the rare business counselor that can
command the attention of corporate CEO’s and
relate to the owners of micro-businesses, said
Campbell. “He has the ability to talk to people
at their level. He can help start-up companies
and established businesses by mentoring them
smoothly through each of the five life stages of a
successful business.”
Sherk has 300 plus letters of recommendation
from his clients over the past 14 years that attest
to his teaching ability. He has been “retired” for
many years. He could easily be spending his time
puttering in his garden or taking long walks in
the Oregon woods, but he understands that we all
need to “give back”.
The Clackamas SBCD provides programs and
individualized counseling to assist small busi-
ness owners. It is a member of the Oregon Small
Business Development Network. The Clackamas
SBDC is located at 7736 Harmony Road in room
172 of the Harmony Community Campus. For
information, call 503-594-0738.

Brian was born and raised in Gladstone,
Oregon. He received his Bachelor of Science
degree from Southern Oregon University then
moved to Florida and received his Master’s De-
gree in Physical Therapy from the University of
St. Augustine.
Brian has enjoyed being a physical therapist
for twelve years and has always prioritized giv-
ing patient’s quality care and valuable informa-
tion that helps them lead healthier lifestyles
once therapy is complete. It’s important to
Brian that North Lake Physical Therapy creates
a welcoming environment that ensures recovery
and healing. His career interests include work-
ing with people of all ages and physical abilities.
Brian uses an eclectic blend of manual therapy
and therapeutic exercises to facilitate healing in
his clients. Brian enjoys the balance of work-
ing with both extremity injuries and problems
of the spine.
In his personal time Brian enjoys climbing in
the mountains and bike riding. He also vol-
unteers with the Mazamas organization, a local
climbing group, to help teach climbing skills.
Brian lives with his wife and fifteen month old
son.
The North Lake Physical Therapy office is lo-
cated on the second floor of The Eastside Ath-
letic Club. Members of the club can stop by
and receive a free physical health consultation
so please say hi and schedule your consultation.
Here at North Lake Physical Therapy we
have made a conscious choice to provide the
best in physical therapy care to meet the needs
of our patients. These choices include full-hour
evaluations and before and after-work appoint-
ment availability. Each visit will be with the
evaluating therapist most often lasting an hour.
You will be involved in both manual therapy
and specific exercises to help you meet your
goals.
Our patients will be allowed full use of the
club, if appropriate, to reach their goals and
complete their healing. We feel confident in
treating disorders of the spine, upper and lower
extremities, as well as treating balance disor-
ders or people at risk for falls.
