SYKART INDOOR RACING
— Be your own Mario Andretti, racing at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, at
Sykart Indoor Racing. The Tigard facility is open seven days a week. Drivers must have a license or permit to
take part in open races. Kids ages 12 and up can take part in JR Race sessions as available. Each lap is logged
and drivers get a race printout at the end to prove how they did. Located at 8205 S.W. Hunziker St. For more

OUTDOOR MOVIES
— It’s like a drive-in movie,
but without the car. A number of cities host fami-
ly friendly movies on big, portable screens at lo-
cal parks. Often there’s entertainment, food and
activities for kids before the show. Just bring
something to sit on, such as a blanket or a low-
back camping or sand chair. Movies generally
start just after sunset, usually between 8:30 and 9
p.m. To find out dates, times and titles, check out

In Lake Oswego, the movies will be screened
at Millennium Plaza Park on Thursday

KITE FLYING
— You need a big, open space and
some breezy weather to go fly a kite. Here are
some parks known for attracting high flyers. Rieke
Elementary School in Southwest Portland has a
turf field that keeps it from getting moshy when
the weather is wet, 1405 S.W. Vermont St. Council
Crest Park, also in Southwest, is the highest point
in Portland, making it a great place for flying with
a great view. Located at the top of Southwest Council Crest
Drive. West Delta Park often draws a crowd of kite enthusiasts,
especially on Sundays. Located at North Denver Ave. and Mar-
tin Luther King Jr. Blvd.,

STARK’S VACUUM MUSEUM
—There are 300
vacuums on display at the museum attached to the
showroom at Stark’s VacuumCleaner Sales and Ser-
vice’s in downtown Portland. The models range from
wooden sucker-uppers from the 1800s to more high-
tech mid-century devices. You’ll find all the big
names such as Hoover, Kirby and Eureka. The muse-
um is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. To 7
p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. It’s locat-

CHAMBER MUSIC NORTHWEST’S SUMMER
FESTIVAL
— For the 43rd year, Chamber Music
Northwest is taking it’s musicians on the road for
five weeks of inspired performances at some of the
area’s most intimate venues. The festival is June 24
through July 28 and you can purchase tickets for one
