101 THINGS TO DO
May 23, 2013
WILSONVILLE MEMORIAL PARK
—With 126 acres of fun features in-
cluding a skate park, spray fountains for frolicking, a unique volcano-
shaped play structure, an amphitheater and a historic barn, Wilsonville
Memorial Park has a little something for everyone. That’s why many peo-
ple are touting it as the metro area’s best park. Check it out at 8100 S.W.
Wilsonville Road.
VOICEBOX
— Always dreamed of singing kara-
oke but are afraid to get up in front of a room full
of strangers? Then Voicebox might be the place
for you. With six private rooms you rent out by
the hour, Voicebox gives singers a chance to con-
trol the song list and lighting for their own party.
Food and drink are available for pur-
chase and brought to your room, and mi-
nors are welcome before 9 p.m. The
lounge is located in Northwest Portland
at 2112 N.W. Hoyt, just off Northwest
21st Avenue. Rates vary depending on
the size of the group and the time of day.
For more information, call 503-303-8220
or visit voiceboxpdx.com.
TREK IN THE PARK
— This is your last chance to see the popular Trek in
The Park as Atomic Arts finishes it’s five-year mission of bringing classic
Star Trek episodes to the public at large. The cast will perform “The Trou-
ble with Tribbles” each weekend in August at 5 p.m. at Cathedral Park in St.
Johns. The episode follows Kirk and the Enterprise crew as they reluctantly
protect the cargo on a deep-space station, but space politics aren’t the only
problem. The headaches mount with Klingons, spies and a slimy salesman
who sells furry, purring and hungry creatures as pets. For more informa-
tion, visit atomic-arts.org.
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARKS
— Culture is coming to a park near you with the 44th
annual Shakespeare in the Parks. Directed by Douglas Lay, the Portland Actors Assem-
ble will perform the romance “The Tale of Cymbeline” from July 20 through Sept. 2. Most
shows are Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and all shows are free.
There’s an ASL-interpreted performance on Aug. 11 and a performance
with audio description for the blind that will be scheduled as well. For
times and locations, visit portlandactors.com.
ENCHANTED FOREST
— Just south of Salem, Enchanted Forest is
a fun-filled amusement park filled with storybook characters and
fairy tale adventures. There’s a western town, a lighted water foun-
tain show, a log ride and more. The park is located at 8462 Enchanted
Way Southeast in Turner. For more information, call 503-363-3060 or
visit enchantedforest.com. Admission is $10.25 for adults; $9.25 for
