The Sandy Post has been the leading source of news for Sandy, Boring
and the Mountain Villages for more than 73 years.
What was true in the first week of 1938, when the paper published its
first issue, is still true today: There is no better source of information on the
people and events that shape these communities.
The Sandy Post places a high priority on producing intensely local news
content. Readers have come to rely on our “Keeping Posted” section, which
is an ever-changing calendar of entertainment, government, business and
civic activities. But we also pride ourselves on providing in-depth coverage
of happenings of interest to Post readers. Each edition contains stories
about new and established businesses, public safety, schools, entertainment,
recreation, obituaries and opinion.
Nowadays, we make our news more available and as current as possible.
We try to let our readers know about important meetings and events well
in advance. And our website (sandypost.com) often contains coverage that
simply can’t wait for publication in our weekly print edition.
The Post is involved in many community activities. We have
memberships with the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce and Mt. Hood
Area Chamber of Commerce. Our newspaper is a sponsor of numerous
local events, including the Sandy Mountain Festival, Oktoberfest, Fly-in
Cruise in, Relay for Life. And our Executive Editor/General Manager,
Steven Brown, is a member of the board of directors of the Sandy Mountain
Festival.
Brown also is executive editor of The Gresham Outlook and Estacada
News, which allows all three papers to share reporters and leads to
efficiency in coverage when stories overlap the circulation boundaries.
In addition to Brown, our staff is comprised news reporters Jim Hart,
sports reporter David Ball, copy editor Janie Nafsinger, Advertising
Manager Cheryl Swart, marketing consultant Karen Tamburina, Circulation
Manager Gini Kraemer, legal advertising representative Deseri Cerruti, and
commercial printing manager Blake Jensen.
