f you live in East Multnomah County, you know about The
Gresham Outlook. If you live in Sandy, it’s The Sandy Post.
And if you live in Estacada, it’s the Estacada News. But did
you know that all three newspapers are connected at the hip?
For example, when something of regional interest happens on
Mount Hood, our staff in Sandy covers that news, which likely is
printed in all three newspapers. What’s that mean for our read-
ers? It means there is no other news outlet that provides the
level of intensely local and regional news coverage (Rockwood
to Government Camp, Estacada to the Columbia River) as these
three newspapers.
The newsrooms at The Outlook, The Post and Estacada are
led by Executive Editor Steven Brown, who manages a staff of
seven news reporters, three sports reporters and a staff pho-
tographer. Together, we combine our efforts to produce weekly print editions in Sandy and
Estacada, and twice-weekly editions with The Outlook. We also provide stories and photos for
many specialty inserts. And you can find breaking news online at our websites (theoutlookon-
line.com, sandypost.com, estacadanews.com).
Steve Brown is a graduate of Madison High School in Northeast Portland (1979). He at-
tended Mt. Hood Community College (1980-82) and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism
from Whitworth University (1987) in Spokane, Wash. Brown eventually landed at the East Or-
egonian in Pendleton, where he was a news reporter, copy desk editor, Sunday-edition editor,
and eventually was named managing editor of the daily newspaper. He joined the staff of The
Gresham Outlook in June 2008 and was appointed executive editor of The Outlook, The Post
and Estacada News in July 2011.
“Our staff is dedicated to providing our readers with the type of local coverage they
demand,” Brown said. “We should make you laugh and cry. At times, our stories should leave
you outraged or inspired.”
You may call Brown directly at 503-492-5119, or send him an email at
