A
t Parklane Mattresses at
Progress Ridge TownSquare
in Beaverton, you’re not go-
ing to be pressured into buy-
ing this mattress or that queen-size set.
Instead, a Parklane sales associate will
take the time to get to know you and
help you find themattress that best suits
your age and lifestyle.
Nels and Debbie Lewis have owned
Parklane Mattresses since 1989. They
own ten stores in Oregon and Washing-
ton, including the factory in Tualatin.
They are the oldest Portland mattress
manufacturer in operation today and
they are dedicated to providing the high-
est quality locally made mattresses pos-
sible.
“What we try to do at Parklane is to
fit you to a product that’s comfortable,”
Lewis said. “We’re a local company –
we don’t have any sales gimmicks, our
prices are printed online on our website
– we don’t try to hook you.”
It’s all about quality at Parklane
Mattresses. “Really what separates us
is how we combine quality materials to
make the products that we provide.”
When you enter Parklane Mattress-
es, don’t expect a hard sell.
“When a customer comes in, we like
to almost have an interview process
with the customer,” Lewis said. “We
want you to be relaxed when you come
in. More importantly, we’re going to
ask permission to ask you some ques-
tions about how you sleep.”
“Through that process, that’s how
we will fit you to a product. We spend a
lot of time doing that. Since we make all
the beds here, we’re not trying to sell
you the ‘flavor of the week.’”
“If you sleep really warm, and you
don’t like the feel of memory foam,
we’re not going to push that on you –
we spend time with the customer,” she
said.
As you search the showroom for
a mattress, don’t be afraid to admit
you’re getting older.
As we age, our mattress needs can
change.
“We do change, dramatically, as we
age, women more so than men,” Lewis
pointed out.
“Most people will come in, quite of-
ten, and think they need a firm bed.”
In these cases, Lewis may find a com-
promise, perhaps a mattress with more
“give” and comfort layers.
“If you’re a side sleeper, you have
more weight on your shoulders, your
hips, your knees. As we age, our skin is
thinner – you create these hot points on
your body,” Lewis said.
Debbie Lewis wants Parklane Mat-
tresses customers to have “an enjoy-
able experience that they can tell their
friends about. Word of mouth is one of
our greatest forms of marketing.”
