2012 PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
This year’s Portland International Auto Show arrives at an encouraging time,
with the automotive industry leading the way in what people throughout the nation
hope will be an economic revival.
There is abundant evidence of strength in the car business, ranging from
robust sales statistics for dealers in Oregon to the recent Time magazine cover
that trumpeted “How America Started Selling Cars Again.” Yet,
it’s not just an economic uptick that is bringing customers back
into showrooms. At the heart of the automotive industry’s strong
showing in recent months is the innovation that is taking place in
the development of new cars. Never in history have consumers
had so many choices, at so many price points and at such low interest rates.
By any measurement — luxury features, safety, fuel efficiency, value or
technology — the cars being produced and sold in 2012 are the most well-equipped
ever. And just about all of them will be on display at the Oregon Convention Center
from Jan. 26 to 29.
For all of these reasons, the Pamplin Media Group — which includes the
Portland Tribune and Community Newspapers — is thrilled again to be a sponsor
of the Portland International Auto Show. This exhibition is more than just a four-
day show — it’s a display of the best in engineering, ingenuity, design and free
enterprise. Plus, it offers fun for families, who will find entertainment ranging from
Camp Jeep to the ECO Center to the Healthy Life Garage.
While you are at the show, please stop by the Portland Tribune and Community
Newspapers booth, where we will continue to collect entries for a drawing to give
away a 2012 Honda Accord.
We hope to see you there.
