2012 PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
There are now more choices than ever
before. Whether you’re a casual shopper or
automobile enthusiast, the selection of motor
vehicles has never been greater.
And they are all represented at
the 2012 Portland International
Auto Show.
Alternatives start at the
heart of each vehicle — the
power plant. Do you want a
conventional gas-powered engine? Got that.
A tried-and-true diesel? Plenty of those. A
hybrid with proven reliability? There are
a growing number to choose from. Or how
about an all-electric vehicle that burns no
fossil fuel? All of those certified for freeway
driving are here.
What about size? The smallest so-called
city cars that are ideal for urban driving and
tight parking spaces are on display. From
there, you can find just the right sizes for
young couples, small families, large families
and large families with friends. Even seating
for eight is an option.
Of course, cost is oneveryone’smind these
days. And that’s why so many manufacturers
are offering affordable models that don’t
scrimp on standard features or even luxury
touches. And if you can afford a bit more,
manufacturers are offering a greater range
of options and available features than at any
time in the past, including the most advanced
electronic entertainment, navigation and
safety systems ever designed.
Motor vehicles have never been so
practical, either. Crossovers, sport utility
vehicles, trucks and vans come in sizes
ranging from small to medium and large.
Maximum towing capacities have never been
higher.
Evenforthoseobsessedwithperformance,
the choices are mind-boggling. Direct fuel
injection. Turbocharging. Supercharging. Up
to12cylinders.Even
twin-turbocharged
direct fuel injected
12-cylinderengines.
This year, the sky
really is the limit.
And if you
want a vehicle for
getting away, you’re
in luck. Even some
of the most-fuel
efficient cars offer
all-wheel-drive these days. And practically
every vehicle can be outfitted with racks for
bikes, kayaks and other forms of recreation.
The 2012 Portland International Auto
Show, however, is more than a collection of
new cars, trucks and SUVs. The show also
includes a series of well-planned displays to
help visitors test potential purchases, compare
similar models side by side and explore how
particular models would fit into their active
lives.
The show is also designed to be fun, with
entertaining features located throughout the
display floor. And one lucky visitor will win
a 2012 Honda Accord on the final day.
Whatever drives you, the choices are
here. All you have to do is start looking.
