lights to create a quaintly European
courtyard complete with a rustic yet up-
to-date outdoor eating/cooking area.
This patio space is reminiscent of the
café in Arles — the inspiration for “Café
Terrace at Night,” one of three “Starry
Night” paintings by Van Gogh. Deeply
saturated colors accent a purely sensual
garden. A cobblestone patio replicating
the streets of France and an Old World
styled kitchen evoke the aesthetic of a
French patisserie. This garden is one
that could be set in our own Pacific
Northwest while exhibiting a bit of
French flavor mingled with local plants
and materials.’
“I believe the ‘Think Global, Garden
Local’ theme to this year’s show is going
to open a lot of avenues for homeown-
ers as well as designers since it will be
bringing so many different cultures into
view,” Meyer says. “We’re very fortunate
to live in a climate where we can push
boundaries in the garden as long as care
is taken, and to see such variety in one
place is going to be exciting.”

Sitting at a two-foot elevation and sur-

teahouse garden with a traditional tea
ceremony.
The garden design includes the follow-

materials):

“Our garden tells the story of a prin-
cess upon awakening, walking through
the palace to the garden room, taking in
the beautiful view of the landscape, then
entering a cozy sultan’s lounge to enjoy
the warmth of the fireplace and the tran-
quility of an inner courtyard water fea-
ture,” Paradise Restored founder Micah
Dennis said.
