The Islands,
Northwest, and Northeast
provide a variety of north-
ern adventures that some
call “paradise”. On the west side of the North Cascades
mountain range you can experience island air, crystal
blue waters, and the Mt. Baker National Forest. From water
activities to whale watching, kayaking, fishing, boating, and snowboarding at one of the
snowiest places in the world, it is a dream for outdoor enthusiasts. Spokane is the larg-
est city in the northeastern region of the state. Whitewater adventures, hiking, skiing, and
boating attract visitors each year to the 76 lakes and 4 major rivers all close by. There are a
myriad of small towns throughout the region full of history, shopping, and fun.
