2013 CRAWFISH FESTIVAL
Thursday, August 8, 2013
W
elcome to the 63rd annual Tu-
alatin Crawfish Festival, our
community’s signature event of
the year. The city of Tualatin
looks forward to this summer tradition each
year, where the community and visitors en-
joy the beautiful Oregon summer weather,
food, family, friends and fun.
This year’s festival will be one for the his-
tory books, as the city celebrates its 100th
birthday! The theme for this year’s festival
is “Claws for Celebration,” in honor of Tual-
atin’s Centennial year.
The city has sponsored
many fun events over the
past months, but on Satur-
day, Aug. 10, the celebra-
tion will go off with a bang
as festival goers enjoy cen-
tennial birthday cake and
fireworks. This will be a
special time for the commu-
nity, so be sure not to miss
any of the fun this week-
end.
Friday kicks off the party
with a Chef’s Mystery Box
Cook Off, TualaPalooza
(the Teen Battle of the
Bands) and live music by
Hit Machine. Admission is
free, so come dance the
night away on the Com-
mons.
Saturday will be packed
with more festival fun, so
be sure to start the day off
right with Pancakes at the
Lake. If you need to get
your morning workout in, sign up for the Crawfish
Crawl 5K. Don’t miss the parade, which starts at 10
a.m., and once you are done watching the floats
and enjoying the parade, head over to Community
Park for the main event.
There is something for all members of the family
to enjoy — even the furry ones. There will be live
music, a dog show, a skateboard competition, danc-
ing, talent competitions, vendors, food and more.
I forgot to mention there will be crawfish. The
festival would not be complete without the Craw-
fish-Eating Contest, where contestants get 15 min-
utes to chow down and try and beat the record
from 1970, where someone was able to eat 170!
If eating for sport doesn’t interest you, there is
also the live crawfish boil in addition to some other
great food offered throughout the park. In the eve-
ning, there will be more live music and dancing,
followed by fireworks starting at 9 p.m.
Happy birthday to this great city, and I hope you
enjoy the party.
Welcome to the largest Crawfish Festival west of
the Mississippi.
