he record for the annual
Crawfish-Eating Contest still
stands. In 1970, the late,
great Leonard “Cotton”
Scheckla consumed 170 crawfish in
15 minutes. Step up and take on
Scheckla’s legacy this Saturday. All
events are held on the Crawdad
Stage at Tualatin Community Park.

Kids’ watermelon-eating contest
An all-you-can-eat watermelon
contest allows youngsters who prefer
something sweet to take part at 3:30
p.m.
Adult crawfish-eating contest
If you’re 16 or older, $15 buys you a
spot at the table. Drop by the regis-
tration booth before 11 a.m. on Satur-
day, or pre-register online. Space is
limited. Under 18? A parent waiver is
required. Contest begins at 4:30 p.m.
Kids’ crawfish-eating contest
Competitive eaters older than 10
but no older than 15 can take to the
stage to wow the crowds with their
crawfish-consumption skills. A par-
ent waiver is required and can be
downloaded online. Show time is at
4:30 p.m.

Those up for a challenge are invited to compete in the annual crawfish-eating contests for
adults and children. Youngsters can also choose to compete in a watermelon-eating contest, if
claws just aren’t their style.
