Bess Wills of
Gresham Ford,
presenting sponsor
of this year’s
Summerfest, is also
the rst business
owner to donate to
the Troutdale Historical Society’s
upcoming exhibit celebrating 100
years of the Historic Columbia
River Highway. She designated
the society as grand marshals of
the parade with its theme,
“Celebrating Local History.”
As Ford dealer, Bess is proud of
the fact that one of the rst
motion picture lms taken on
the highway shows Henry Ford’s
Model Ts navigating our
beautiful old road.
Riding in a new Ford pickup
donated for the day by Wills will
be three stylish ladies in turn of
the century dress, the daughters
of longtime Troutdale resident
Sue Davis: Penny Labberton,
Elaine Davis and Cathy Peetz. We
also have a Model A with former
Mayor Paul alhofer aboard.
Also during Summerfest
festivities at Glenn Otto Park,
society member Karen Jordan,
creator of a famed Civil War quilt
patterned after the 1863 work of
Jane A. Stickle, will show her
quilt at the Harlow House, 726 E.
Historical Columbia River
Highway, right on the route to
the park.
e Harlow House museum and
the Troutdale rail depot are both
great places to see the parade and
guests are invited to watch from
those sites.
