Spaces combined their
expertise to remodel
a lackluster 1935
waterfront cottage on Lake Oswego
that had undergone a series of
disjointed additions.
The homeowner’s goal was to
enlarge the media room, maximize
lake views, rework the street-front
appearance and improve the
main entry, kitchen, utility,
bathrooms and bedrooms.
The goal of Pruitt and Fuller
was to create an updated
and logical transition from
room to room.
To accomplish this, a
two-level, nine-foot-wide
addition spanning 30 feet
was added to one side of
the home. It expanded the footprint and
provided a more spacious and efficient
floor plan on both levels.
Downstairs, the dining room and family
room areas were reversed. Walls were
removed to open up the entry, kitchen and
family room. Large windowed walls and
glass sliders replaced typical picture
windows to create lavish lake views
and convenient backyard access.
A previous remodel of the master
bath and bedroom (by Cascade and
Fuller) became the prototype for the
trim and finish selections for
the project. A new office and
adjacent bedroom share a unique angled
wall with floor-to-ceiling windows that
capture a seamless lake vista.
Much needed storage has been
incorporated into a one-of-a-kind laundry
space. An additional guest room occupies a
street-front location.
The crowning jewel is the new cottage-
inspired kitchen. The metamorphosis
from a dark uninviting space to a stunning
light-filled, efficient kitchen and gathering
space is remarkable. The once non-descript
house on the lake has become a revitalized
lakefront cottage bursting with personality.
