Help we are
drowning in clutter!
This was the
message from the
owners about their old
kitchen. The cabinets
had lost their luster
and overflowed with items long
forgotten. Other issues included
poor lighting, outdated
counters and worn hardwood
floors. Cascade Custom
Remodel and Deb Seeley
Designs — aka, “Team
Remedy” — teamed
up to fix the situation.
Needed: better
storage.
After several
client interviews, Deb
began with functional
storage.
Remedy 1:
Incorporate cabinet
inserts for workable
storage and easy
accessibility.
Remedy 2: Push out an
existing wall to create space for an L-shaped
island, which provides additional seating
and separate workspaces for the chefs.
Remedy 3: Remove existing pantry
closet/desk area and replace with ceiling-
height cabinets. Create a new location
for oven/microwave, and add spaces for
recycling bins, vertical storage and pullout
pantries.
Needed: improved lighting.
Remedy
1: Install a new window by the sink, which
increases the view and
improves the light
quality.
Remedy 2: Enhance
task lighting.
Remedy 3: Select more reflective surface
materials and backsplashes and lighten the
wall color.
Needed: greater style.
Remedy:
Coordinate design with family room by
incorporating rope legs on island and rope
detailing around crown molding to add
interest, continuity and maintain the client’s
traditional values.
With Deb Seeley’s drawings/
specifications, Cascade Custom Remodel
had a clear vision of cost and how to
implement the design. CCR’s team of subs
and suppliers brought the project in on
time and on budget.
The result is a drop-dead gorgeous
kitchen complete with a customized
storage system.
