There are some
homes that scream
“help”! This was one of
them. Never touched,
altered or remodeled,
period. This is the
largest transformation
we have completed to date at Rebuild LLC.
The home’s new owners, Rob and
Celena, knew they wanted to gut
and remodel the whole thing, so
they brought in their friend at
Brandenburg Studios to consult,
design a plan and start some
drawings. After extensive lot
and site hurdles had been
cleared, the plan was set
and things got under way
in late 2009.
Demolition of nearly
every element ensued,
leaving only about 65
percent of the existing
skeleton. Additions
were constructed
that required a fully
engineered plan from
basement footings all the way up to the
roofline ridge beam. The top floor attic
was partially dormered at the front for
the placement of a bathroom, and fully
dormered at the rear for the two large
bedrooms with the best views within the
entire home.
The next addition was placed at
the second floor master bathroom to
accommodate needed space. And finally,
the balcony additions were added at front
and rear, which are now the homes new
focal points and great places to relax and
take in expansive views.
There were numerous walls altered
for openness. Full double-
mechanical systems were
installed for two zones, due
to size of the home. Closed cell foam
was spray applied to the entire exterior
envelope, as well central vacuuming and
hybrid water heating.
If you look closely, you can find a few
elements that were salvaged, reworked
and reinstalled, but everything else was
replaced.
All finishes were picked by the client,
and this should help people to understand
that if we can polish this type of home to
its current luster, we can certainly help you
with yours regardless of size or budget.
