The Nantucket is a wonderful
example of a coastal home, maybe
even something youʼd find in Maine or
New England. The shingled front gives
you the feel as though, just around the
corner, ships are returning home from a
long day of lobstering.
We, however, took that charm and
integrated it into something useable for
the Northwest. The covered porch in
the back allows for not only year-round
outdoor cooking on the built-in grill
but also provides a romantic fireplace
to snuggle up around on brisk summer
evenings.
Just steps away, the hot tub will
provide year-round enjoyment for the
whole family. Gro Outdoor Living has
created an oasis, incorporating the
right amount of grass, plants, paths and
planting beds.
The homeʼs interior maintains the
feeling of an East Coast home, including
the classic Hayes Cabinets, dark-
stained maple floors, white woodwork,
beautiful doors with glass transoms,
marble counters, a built-in nook, box
beams and wainscot. The curved
staircase is a great focal point with
detail that really adds to the richness of
the home. The right balance of textures
and colors truly makes you feel as
though you could actually live in this
home, enjoying all it has to offer.
Last but not least is the fully
functional theater room provided by
Current Home Technologies. Not only
will it make for great movie nights,
but the system also powers the whole
house audio system, a feature sure to
be a great plus for Christmas parties.
The home not only is beautiful, but
itʼs energy efficient as well, including:
a 95 percent furnace; an HRV unit
to remove stale air from the home,
replacing it with conditioned fresh air; a
recirculation hot water pump; and even
a new type of shingle. The solar shingles
provided by CertainTeed reduce UV
penetration, thus reducing heat loads
and cooling demands.
Although The Nantucket is an East
Coast-inspired home, it fits perfectly
in the Northwest and will be a classic
home for generations to come.
